Status Saver — Save Status · package com.byteworks.statussaver · effective date: 2026-07-08

ByteWorks Software ("we", "us", "our") operates the mobile application Status Saver ("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices and rights you have. By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

Short version: the App does not require an account and does not itself collect your name, email, or phone number. It lets you view and save WhatsApp/WhatsApp Business status media that is already stored on your device — that media is copied locally and never uploaded to us. The App does use Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging) and Google AdMob to operate, measure, and monetize the App, and those services collect limited technical and advertising data as described below.

1. Who we are

Data controller: ByteWorks Software.

Contact for privacy questions or data requests: pnbhanderi32@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

None. The App has no sign-up, login, profile, or in-app forms, and does not ask you to enter personal information.

2.2 Media you save

The App reads WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business status files that already exist in storage locations on your own device (with your permission, granted through Android's storage/media access prompts) so you can preview and save them. Saved files are copied to a folder on your device's local storage. This media is processed entirely on-device and is not transmitted to ByteWorks Software or to any server we operate.

2.3 Information collected automatically

The App uses the third-party services listed in Section 3 below, which automatically collect certain technical data when you use the App, such as: device model and manufacturer, operating system version, language/locale, app version, a Firebase installation/instance identifier, a Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token, approximate location derived from IP address (city/region level, not GPS), crash logs and diagnostic/stack-trace data, in-app usage events (for example: consent given/declined, a batch of status files saved, a single status file saved), advertising identifiers (such as the Android/Google Advertising ID), and ad interaction data (impressions, clicks, and similar signals used to serve and measure ads).

We do not directly collect precise GPS location, contacts, SMS, call logs, or your WhatsApp messages or account information — the App only reads status media files that WhatsApp already stores locally on your device for its status-sharing feature.

3. Third-party services used by the App

The App is built on the following Google services, each of which processes data under its own privacy terms in addition to this policy:

ServicePurposeData involved
Google Firebase AnalyticsUnderstand feature usage to improve the AppUsage events, device/app info, installation ID, approximate location (IP-based)
Google Firebase CrashlyticsDetect and diagnose crashes and errorsCrash reports, stack traces, device state at time of crash
Google Firebase Cloud MessagingDeliver app notificationsDevice push-notification registration token
Google Firebase Remote ConfigControl app behavior (e.g. ad frequency) without an app updateInstallation ID, app version, no personal data
Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads SDKDisplay banner, native, and interstitial ads that support free use of the AppAdvertising ID, device/app info, ad interaction data, approximate location (IP-based)
Google Play ServicesUnderlying platform services the above depend onAs required by the above

Learn more about how Google handles this data: Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services (Ads).

4. Advertising and your consent choices

The App displays ads served through Google AdMob. Depending on your region, the App shows a Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form before loading any ads or starting non-essential data collection — this applies in particular to users in the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland, in line with GDPR and applicable ePrivacy rules. Through that form you can consent to, or decline, personalized advertising; declining still allows the App to show non-personalized ads where legally permitted.

You can also manage ad personalization at the device level at any time:

  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads — reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads.
  • Google Ad Settings: adssettings.google.com.

5. How we use information

  • To operate core App functionality (browsing and saving status media).
  • To understand which features are used, so we can fix problems and prioritize improvements.
  • To detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and errors.
  • To deliver and measure the ads that keep the App free.
  • To send app-related notifications, where permitted.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Sharing limited device/advertising identifiers with Google for ad delivery and measurement, as described above, may be considered "sharing" under some definitions (see Section 8, California rights) even though no money changes hands for it.

6. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK users)

  • Consent — for personalized advertising and related data collection, obtained via the UMP consent flow before it occurs.
  • Legitimate interests — for crash reporting and core analytics needed to keep the App working reliably, balanced against your rights.
  • Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose information to comply with applicable law.

7. Data retention

  • Status media you save stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
  • Analytics, crash, and advertising data collected by Firebase/AdMob is retained according to Google's own retention schedules (see their privacy policy linked above); we do not separately store copies of this data ourselves.

8. Your rights

8.1 GDPR / UK GDPR (EEA, UK)

You have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of your data; the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests; the right to data portability; the right to withdraw consent at any time (this won't affect processing that already happened before withdrawal); and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at pnbhanderi32@gmail.com. Because we don't hold an account-linked profile of you, most requests will be fulfilled by directing you to the relevant Google Firebase/AdMob controls, or by confirming what limited data (if any) we hold.

8.2 California (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To opt out of ad-related sharing, use the in-app consent controls (where shown) or the device-level Google Ad Settings described in Section 4. To exercise other CCPA/CPRA rights, contact pnbhanderi32@gmail.com.

8.3 India

For users in India, this policy is intended to be consistent with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and applicable rules, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, to the extent it applies. You may contact us at pnbhanderi32@gmail.com with any grievance or data request, and we will respond within a reasonable time.

8.4 Other jurisdictions

If your local law grants you additional or different rights over your personal information, we will honor those rights on request to the extent required by that law.

9. International data transfers

Google Firebase and Google AdMob may process and store data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States, under Google's own compliance mechanisms (such as Standard Contractual Clauses for EEA/UK data, where applicable). See Google's privacy policy for details on their transfer safeguards.

10. Data security

Data handled by Firebase and AdMob is transmitted using industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS). The App itself does not operate its own servers and does not transmit your saved status media anywhere — it stays on your device. No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App is not configured to serve child-directed advertising. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at pnbhanderi32@gmail.com and we will take appropriate action.

12. Permissions the App requests

PermissionWhy it's needed
Storage access (Android 9 and below) / media access prompts (Android 10+)To read WhatsApp/WhatsApp Business status files and let you save them to your device.
Notifications (Android 13+)To show app-related notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging, if enabled.
Internet / network state (via Google Play services)Required by Firebase and AdMob to load ads, send analytics/crash data, and check connectivity.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the App's functionality or in applicable law. We will update the effective date above when we do. Material changes will be highlighted in the App's Play Store listing update notes where appropriate. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
